Sample Favorite Meal Essay Questions
Sample Favorite Meal Essay QuestionsSome teachers will tell you that their favorite sample favorite meal essay question is the obvious one. Other teachers are more creative. To me, it's the older student who has been asked to prepare a meal and be a participant in the meal's preparation and serving, without actually having to cook.As far as what I like to ask students, I've been doing it for almost ten years now, and my best results were in a traditional, third grade classroom. Still, the question tends to come up at some point. In the case of third graders, it often comes up because they are called upon to make something - or, at least, a fair copy of something - so they will 'make it' to pass a class.I had a student who memorized the same true meal-making list that she'd learned in the class, from the old teacher (me). The number one item on her list was 'boiled eggs.' She asked, 'So, if I boil an egg, does that make an omelet?'That gave me a nice opportunity to write a sample favo rite meal essay question - and it was one of the answers that made me laugh the hardest. I wrote, 'I don't think it really makes an omelet. If you boil an egg, it makes a yolk and a white.'That's the true truth, at least for this student. She also brought up the issue of a flat pizza pie (for some reason, she just couldn't make an omelet). That was another opportunity to point out how her experiences with cooking in the past are no longer relevant. In any case, I asked her about her idea of a 'true omelet,' which was still considered the best expression of her dreamsof a true omelet when she was younger. Her answer was that she wanted the omelet to have a nice, rich tomato sauce with mayonnaise on top. She also thought it would be nice if the egg whites were thick enough to hold onto the moisture in the ingredients but were still not runny.I wrote a question that went something like, 'Do you want your egg white omelet to have the thickness that we discussed or to be runny enough to h old all the moisture that the eggs make? What's your idea of a true omelet?'The answer to my favorite meal essay question, 'If I boil an egg, does that make an omelet?' was that it depends. The teacher took the next couple of days to develop a scheme that allowed her to give some foods other than eggs a try.
